based upon the legendary Yiddish play by S. Anski;
Translation by J.C. Landis;
Adaptation by the composer.

This evocative play of young love and ghostly possession
has been set for stage, film and ballet. In this
version, the remembrance of the saintly shtetl is
enlivened by the use of Hasidic melodies, traditional
songs, and dance. The beautiful melodic style of
this work is deeply felt. |

Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights

This unique work by Gertrude Stein sets the traditional
story of Dr. Faustus in an unconventional way. The
play features a backdrop of electric lights which are an
integral part of the production. Dr. Faustus sells
his soul, once for control of the lights, and again for
the love of Marguerite Ida and Helena Annabel. |
